1. Review the scenes in Chapter Twelve where Amir and Soraya begin to know one another. What about Soraya recalls other important figures in Amir’s life?
2. These three chapters (10 - 12) bring about a series of life altering circumstances for Baba and Amir. At each of these junctures, Amir is reminded of his past, try as he might to forget it. Select one of the scenes in these chapters that reflects this idea, and discuss why the author might have chosen to have Amir pulled back to his past in this way.
